
The FunFly Wings Award has been developed to encourage Upskilling & Development for PPL’s with skill exercises, hours flown and evidence of additional training. It provides new and existing pilots targets to aim for after achieving their PPL rather than just burning holes in the sky. The award has three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold with various targets and criteria for each. Please see the video below for more details.
There are four elements to each level:
- Cross-country
- Total and PIC Flying Hours
- Safety Seminar Attendance
- Pilot Achievement

(Others may be added to the list from time to time at the discretion of FunFly Aerosports. If you would like to attend another event you think may be suitable, please get in touch and we will evaluate whether it’s suitable for inclusion)
Pilot Achievement
- Tailwheel differences training
- Strip Flying Endorsement (e.g. BMAA strip flying diploma)
- Night Rating
- Sea Plane Rating
- Instrument Rating
- Instructor Certificate
- Licence Upgrade (e.g. microlight to National PPL, LAPL to PPL etc.)
- Formation Flying Qualification
- Display Authorisation
- Conversion onto three distinct types of aircraft (e.g. Savannah to Ventura, C152 to C172, C172 to PA28 etc.)
Any two differences training from the following list will count as one Pilot Achievement
- Retractable undercarriage
- Variable Pitch / Constant Speed Propeller
- Turbocharger
- Pressurisation
- Single Lever Power Control
- EFIS
Some additional qualifications/achievements may be accepted at the discretion of FunFly Aerosports. Any qualifications achieved outside of General Aviation will not qualify (e.g. B737 or A320 type rating).
