Limetree Airfield has been the centre of recreational flying in Ireland over the last 10 years. Run by the Deegan family, its friendly welcoming atmosphere attracts visiting aviators throughout the year. As well as being home to FunFly Aerosports, it’s also home to the National Microlight Association of Ireland.
Centrally located in Class G airspace, Limetree is a great location to start your flight. A round trip to any point on the island can usually be done on a tank of fuel! Its 400 metre grass runway may seem short to Cessna and Piper pilots but it’s plenty of space for the ICP Savannah S which can get airborne in less than 100 metres. The two hangars at the airfield are home to about 30 aircraft from flexwings to gyroplanes and Piper Cubs to Savannahs. The new spacious clubhouse built in 2019 has a full kitchen, toilet, briefing room and seating area.
