A trial lesson, or introductory flight, gives you the opportunity to experience a flight in a light aircraft. The flight offers you the chance to try a flight without having to commit to joining the club as full member. It could be a one off flight to tick off your bucket list or to check to see if you like it before taking up lessons.
We offer two options, a 30 minute and 60 minute flight. The flight includes:
- Temporary club membership
- A preflight briefing with an instructor
- A 30 or 60 minute flight in the local area
- The opportunity to fly the aircraft yourself!
- A debrief and Q&A with an instructor
Your instructor will complete the takeoff and landing but after that you will be invited to take the controls and fly as much or as little as you want. Your instructor will explain the basic flight controls and coach you through the basic manoeuvres, turns, climbs and descents. The airspace around our base at Limetree Airfield is all uncontrolled so you will have the freedom to fly to lots of different places and enjoy the fantastic views of the midlands.
This first flight counts as your first lesson towards your Light Aircraft or Private Pilots Licence. If you’re interested in pursuing a training course, your instructor will be able to provide the details or feel free to take a look at the Learn to Fly section of this site.
While we endeavour to get you flying on your chosen date and time, occasionally we may not be able to fly due to weather. When booking, please ensure you give us a contact number so we can contact you in the event of poor weather. Sometimes, when the weather looks nice on the ground, it can be turbulent in the air. Your instructor will advise you of this in advance and give you the opportunity to reschedule if you prefer.
You can purchase an introductory flight voucher by Credit/Debit Card securely from our Online Shop. Alternatively, you can drop into the airfield and purchase a voucher in person via Cash or Card.
